Seraphina didn't sleep that night.

She remained seated beside the bedroom window until dawn, watching the first rays of sunlight creep over the Silvercrest Mountains. Every memory she had shared with Kael replayed endlessly in her mind, making the silence between them even more unbearable.

Behind her, Kael had spent the night sitting on the edge of the bed. Neither of them had spoken after their painful conversation. There was simply nothing left to say.

"You should rest," Kael finally said as the morning light filled the room.

Seraphina let out a quiet laugh without turning around.

"Rest? Tell me, Kael... how does someone rest after watching their entire future disappear in a single evening?"

Kael lowered his eyes.

"I'm trying to understand what's happening."

"No," she replied softly. "You're trying to decide which woman you'll choose."

The accusation hit him harder than any blade.

"I haven't chosen anyone."

"Not yet."

She stood and faced him.

"But your wolf already has."

Before Kael could respond, a knock echoed through the chamber.

"Alpha," a guard announced from outside. "The council requests your presence immediately."

Kael closed his eyes briefly.

"I'll be there shortly."

The guard left.

"They're already talking about her," Seraphina whispered.

"The entire kingdom will know by sunset."

Kael walked toward her carefully.

"Please don't lose faith in us."

"Faith isn't the problem anymore."

"Then what is?"

"Fate."

Without waiting for another answer, Seraphina quietly left the room.

The palace corridors felt colder than usual.

Servants lowered their heads as she passed, but she noticed the whispers following behind her.

"Did you hear?"

"The Alpha found his fated mate."

"Poor Luna..."

Every word pierced her heart.

She entered the training grounds where warriors had already begun their morning drills.

Captain Rowan immediately approached her.

"Good morning, Luna."

"Morning."

"Would you like today's report?"

"No."

She reached for a practice sword instead.

"I need a sparring partner."

Rowan hesitated.

"My Luna..."

"Don't hold back."

Within seconds, steel clashed across the training field.

Seraphina attacked relentlessly.

Every swing carried frustration.

Every strike buried another painful memory.

Rowan struggled to keep up despite being one of Silvercrest's finest warriors.

"Enough!" another voice called.

Kael stood at the edge of the arena.

"You'll injure yourself."

"Maybe that's exactly what I need."

She lowered her sword but refused to look at him.

"The council is waiting," Rowan reminded carefully.

Kael nodded before leaving once again.

Inside the council chamber, every elder wore a troubled expression.

"Alpha," Elder Marcus began.

"You've found your fated mate."

"Yes."

"This changes everything."

"Nothing has changed."

"Respectfully," another elder interrupted, "everything has changed."

"The Moon Goddess herself has spoken."

"Seraphina is still my Luna," Kael answered firmly.

"She is your chosen Luna," Marcus corrected.

"Lady Lyra is your fated mate."

Silence settled across the chamber.

"What are you suggesting?" Kael asked.

"Meet Lady Lyra."

"Understand the strength of the bond before making any decision."

"And what about Seraphina?"

"She deserves honesty."

Kael clenched his fists.

"I won't cast my Luna aside."

"No one asked you to."

"But pretending yesterday never happened won't protect anyone."

Meanwhile, Seraphina walked through the palace gardens alone.

The flowers she had personally planted during her first year as Luna were beginning to bloom.

She knelt beside a white rose bush, gently brushing her fingers across one of the petals.

"Everything changes," she whispered.

"Even seasons know when it's time to let go."

"Talking to flowers now?"

She looked up.

Her closest friend, Evelyn, stood nearby carrying a basket of herbs.

"I heard what happened."

Seraphina managed a weak smile.

"The whole kingdom probably has."

Evelyn sat beside her without speaking.

Sometimes silence offered more comfort than words.

"Do you hate him?" Evelyn finally asked.

Seraphina thought carefully before answering.

"No."

"I wish I did."

"Because hate would be easier than this."

"What will you do?"

"I honestly don't know."

Back inside the palace, Kael dismissed the council and returned to his office.

His wolf refused to settle.

Every instinct screamed for him to seek Lyra.

Every memory begged him to stay beside Seraphina.

For the first time since becoming Alpha, he felt completely powerless.

A servant knocked softly.

"Alpha, Lady Lyra has requested permission to meet with you."

Kael froze.

"Tell her..."

He couldn't finish the sentence.

The servant waited patiently.

"Tell her I'll meet her tomorrow."

"Yes, Alpha."

Hours later, Seraphina returned to their chambers after spending the afternoon helping injured warriors in the infirmary.

She paused outside the bedroom door.

The familiar scent of cedar filled the hallway.

For years, that scent had made her feel safe.

Tonight, it only reminded her that someone else now belonged to the man she loved.

She entered quietly.

Kael was standing beside the fireplace.

"I told Lyra we'd meet tomorrow," he said.

"You don't have to explain your schedule to me."

"I'm trying to be honest."

"Then answer one question honestly."

He nodded.

"When you close your eyes... whose face do you see?"

Kael's silence lasted only a few seconds.

But those few seconds were enough.

Seraphina smiled sadly.

"I already know the answer."

She walked past him toward the balcony.

Above the mountains, the full moon still hung proudly in the night sky.

"The Moon Goddess chose another woman for you," she whispered.

"Maybe... it's time I stop waiting for fate to be kind to me."

Far beyond Silvercrest's borders, hidden deep within the forbidden Shadowlands, a pair of crimson eyes slowly opened beneath the darkness.

The feared ruler of the Shadow Pack looked toward the northern horizon.

"Interesting..." the mysterious Alpha murmured.

"It seems destiny has finally begun to move."

You finished
